5rapid rooter works great
By dirty dave
im a first timer, and i have to say this worked so well that i dont know why anyone is bothering with the paper towel thing. i used 3 different strains of seeds,1 per hole of coarse. added 1 16oz. bottle of spring water [room temp] then covered with the plastic dome [vents closed] this had one of those heating pads underneath that i purchased seperately. after about 20 hrs. i had 5 with sprouts about a half inch long. the next day about the same amount [another 5-6] had sprouted with about 2/3 of the rest cracked open and starting to sprout. also, the material in the cups will come out nice and easy to transfer to the medium im going to use [hydro] so here it is folks a true testimonial from a virgin first timer--------happy growin

5I will never use peat again!
By S. Clements
Since we live in the PNW, my family is attempting an aquaponics system this year to jumpstart our vegetable garden and grow our own fish (or, at least to utilize the pet fish we keep. They gotta earn their keep somehow, eh?). We bought one of these trays at a local indoor garden store and I planted it with different types of beans, of melons, zucchini, Alpine strawberries, corn, cucumbers... within 6 days the beans are outgrowing the 4 inch cover and the roots are spreading through the drain hole! All the plants are happy, except the strawberries that have not sprouted yet. I had to transfer the beans yesterday, and the media plugs are a joy to work with! I gave up using peat plugs as they fall apart easily. These do not. They remained the same shape and I noticed they were moist but not soggy. Overall my DH and I are both pleasantly surprised. So much that I bought more plugs and plan to start everything I can in them. I didn't even water them the day I planted the seeds as they were moist to the touch. They're so simple and work so well that my skeptical DH is now reconsidering my idea to grow veggies indoors year round!Hmmm... maybe I should try to start my sweet peas in them... I love those flowers but have never successfully grown them here. :)

Good germination rate and easy to transplant........wouldn't use anything else to pop my seeds! You can also transplant in any medium.
