5Have used for four years - good as new!
By Sue
I have been using these smart pots for four years with great success. Always check to make sure you are buying a pot that is large enough. The 15 gallon size is big enough for summer squash, cukes, patio tomatoes etc... You will want at least a 20 gallon size for regular tomatoes and winter squash. All I do is fill with quality dirt and compost. At the end of the year I either keep outside and reuse (dirt too) for the next year, or I'll dump the dirt into my regular veg garden, hose off the pot, lay out to dry, and store in the basement until next year. These are not decorative, in the least. Don't expect a work of art. They are simply functional.Better for your root systems as the roots won't bake quite as hotly in the sun.Remember that these are porous. You'll need to water more often than a garden bed.

5Trial Run
By Lucy
I have no prior experience with "Smart Pots", so this one is a trial run for me. So far (about 30 days) the tomato plant in it is thriving, and I'm optimistic about the results. I hope to be successful enough to add more "Smart Pots" to my patio next year!
