I have used this pick for digging in VERY hard ground. It's held up very well to a lot of abuse. Excellent product.The spade end did bend a bit when it hit some hard granite. I used a sledge hammer to straighten that out.-------------------------------------------------------Update July 2009: Yikes~! Just busted the handle on this bad-boy whacking away at an old tree root. If I could I would revise my review to a 3 as the handle should not have failed like this. I'm going to order another non-wood handle.

Prefer the wooden handle more than the synthetic type. This is a great work tool for the yard. Recommended.
