Beautiful piece of wood, not waxed too much which would make it slippery. It came with a wooden holding wedge, that I didn't use - opting for the metal ribbed (holding) wedge that came out of the maul-handle that I had broken.How do you get the piece of the old handle out of the head of the axe/maul? You burn it, throw it in a firepit or fireplace for a few housrs, and voila remove - old wood is gone.Good product, highly recommend.

This handle is a good solid handle. I had to modify my maul to accept the axe eye shaft, but the increased strengh is well worth it. The oval grip is much better for accuracy over the sledge handles that I broke several of.
